We are thrilled to be returning to Historic Castle Green for the third year in a row for our annual Jazz On The Green event.  There’s no better spot to spend a September evening listening to live jazz, meeting old friends and making new, enjoying good food & drink, and most importantly, supporting Friends In Deed.

Tickets: $95

This fundraising event provides support for Friends In Deed to continue our mission to alleviate the effects of poverty and to encourage self-sufficiency through the collective efforts of congregations, individuals and community organizations.  This event will directly benefit all of our programs which include The Bad Weather Shelter, The Women’s Room, The Food Pantry, and Norma’s Nook.

Event Details:  September 28, 2016, 6:00pm – 9:30pm at Castle Green – 99 S. Raymond Ave., Pasadena, CA 91105

Our Jazz On The Green evening wouldn’t be complete without some live jazz music. And again this year, we will be featuring music on the lawn of Castle Green and indoors too.

On the main lawn, we are pleased to once again feature “The Music of Michael Haggins” (http://www.michaelhaggins.com/).  Michael Haggins is a Contemporary Bassist Songwriter born in Pasadena.  The Music of Michael Haggins has been featured on Network Television and in Feature Films.  With three Smooth Jazz CD’s; Daybreak, Traffic, and Dare to Dream, Michael’s compositions guide you along a luminous journey and leaves you hungry for the next destination.  “Michael Haggins Band” includes a family of professional musicians – J Michael O’Neal (Keyboards), David Scott (Guitar), Lance Beckford (Drums), Gary Metz (Sax), Tony Pulizzi (Guitar), Jerohn Garnett (Drums), and Jimmy Roberts (Sax).

Inside Castle Green, live jazz music will be provided by the Father/Daughter team of Tom Armbruster & Jane Friday.  Tom, a lifelong musician, is the choir director at the Pasadena Church of Truth and can be seen each and every Tuesday night singing and playing at Colombo’s Italian Steak House and Jazz Club in Eagle Rock.  Jane has been performing music and theater since a young age. She currently plays throughout Northern and Southern California in a novelty folk ensemble and performs weekly in the Pasadena Church of Truth Choir. For a taste of Tom & Jane performing “Lullaby of Birdland” together, please click here.
