Friends in Deed

CVUMC “Empty Bowls: Hope Not Hunger” Event – On Oct. 22, Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church held their annual Empty Bowls event.  For a donation of $20 (for adults) and/or $15 (for children 12 & under), guests chose a beautifully, handcrafted bowl, got it filled with soup, enjoyed a great evening, and then took the bowl home with them.  Proceeds from this wonderful event went to benefit Friends In Deed, World Service Fund, and Bailey Human Care Center at Tujunga UMC.  Erin Hambarsumian, a Girl Scout from CVUMC, chose to make Empty Bowls her class project, and produced a video about the evening.  Below is her video.

With a grant we received from the Pasadena Community Foundation (PCF) last year, we were able to purchase a new freezer for our Food Pantry. Through the Nancy Nash Beckham Endowment for Hunger, started by her daughters, Barbara Beckham & Patti Beckham Healy, in honor of Nancy’s dedication to service and community, PCF is able to provide grants to organizations like Friends In Deed.  Please take a few minutes and watch the video below
