Homeless Prevention Services
Friends In Deed provides case management and support for identifying permanent housing resources to those in need.
Friends In Deed contributes to those special moments in life that feed the mind and soul. Working with so many in our community, we are able to provide festive Spring & Easter baskets, host, with our friends in the Pasadena Jaycees, our Operation Gobbler Thanksgiving Turkey Give-A-Way, and get the kids ready to go back to school with our Back-To-School Backpack & Supply event.
Making hundreds of Easter baskets and filling more than 200 backpacks also gives members of congregations, civic groups and individuals an opportunity to do their part and be friends indeed.
Every year, on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, the Pasadena Jaycees’ Operation Gobbler event allows us to provide around 300 Thanksgiving turkeys and fixings to our Pantry community. The meals come complete with turkey, stuffing, gravy, fruit, vegetables, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, soup, rolls cranberry sauce, milk, coffee and pumpkin pie.
Monthly Free Blood Pressure & Sugar Level Checks
On the second Tuesday of the month, Friends in Deed is fortunate to have a nurse from Huntington Hospital come and provide free blood pressure and sugar level checks for our community. Many in our community make sure to visit the nurse on a regular basis.
Back to School
The school year seems to be starting earlier and earlier, so beginning in the last week of July, we are able to donate backpacks and school supplies to the kids in our Pantry community. In each of the last three years, we have been able to give out more than 225 backpacks, filled with supplies. The backpacks are filled with supplies that are appropriate for kids beginning in Kindergarten up through their Senior year in High School.
